Reporting
& Analytics
ServiceNow's full reporting stack — report types (List, Bar, Line, Gauge, Heat Map, Pivot), Database Views for cross-table reporting, interactive dashboards, scheduled delivery, and Performance Analytics (PA) time-series trend tracking.
Line reports REQUIRE a real Date/DateTime field — a text "year" field won't work. DB Views are read-only with no Business Rules. PA vs Reports distinction: Reports = point-in-time snapshot; PA = historical time-series that needs to be collecting data over time. Interactive Filters only affect widgets on the SAME dashboard using the SAME source table.
Part 7 Study Modules
Report Types & Builder
All report types — List, Bar/Column, Pie/Donut, Line (trend), Gauge, Heat Map, Pivot Table. When to use each, aggregation options, and Report Conditions as pre-filters.
Database Views for Reporting
sys_db_view as read-only virtual join for cross-table reports. Inner vs Left Outer join behavior, primary table concept, view limitations (no forms, no Business Rules, no writes).
Dashboards & Scheduling
Dashboard structure (tabs, widgets), Interactive Filters scope (same table only), dashboard sharing (users/groups/roles/public), Scheduled Reports, and Report Subscriptions.
Performance Analytics
PA vs Reports (historical trends vs point-in-time), Indicators, Scores, Breakdowns, Targets, Analytics Hub, data collection requirements, and why PA needs time to build history.
CMDB Workspace & Natural Language Query
CMDB Workspace as unified CI exploration interface, NLQ (plain-English → structured CMDB query), CI 360 View (details, source attribution, relationships, health, ITSM records in one screen), Source Attribution tab for multi-source conflict diagnosis, relationship visualization for change impact navigation.
Foundation Dashboards & CMDB 360
Foundation data (minimum CI attributes for CMDB to deliver ITSM value), Foundation Dashboards (program-level health: Health by class, trend, top issues, coverage, CSDM completeness, duplicate rate), CMDB 360 (service model completeness — distinct from CMDB Health), governance accountability loop, and CMDB maturity indicators.
